Jerry Foster

Jerry Foster joined Moffitt Associates in November 2005. Jerry is a true "hands on" practitioner and expert in the use of TPS "Toyota Production System" tools and the fundamental tools that have come to be represented by the term "Lean". He was a lead contributor to the development and implementation of the lean tools currently used by United Technologies where he spent twenty three years in various roles. He has developed and implemented strategies for businesses in the United States, Europe and Asia across a variety of product lines. He is experienced in leading conversion efforts while holding responsibility for the enterprise. He has experience implementing these tools in union and nonunion environments, green and brown fields, merger assimilation and plant moves with complex mixed model processes.

Prior to joining Moffitt Associates, Jerry was Senior Consultant & Manager Consulting Services for Simpler Consulting, where he served a diverse client/product base while achieving outstanding results, such as:

  • Reduction in DOD contract costs and lead times of more than 40%
  • Multi-million dollar cost and lead time reductions on flexible payload submarine and missile systems.
  • Inventory reduction of an extruded plastic/textile plant of 90%+
  • Productivity of plastics/textile plant of 60%

Jerry began his learning of the TPS/Lean tools at Pratt & Whitney (United Technologies) in the late 1980s. Jerry and other members of the P&W team became immersed in an effort coached by the Singijutsu Corp. During Jerry's career he has been relied upon to recover and improve troubled operations. As General Manager of Tyler Refrigeration's two Texas divisions results include;

  • First pass yields improved from <12% to >95%
  • On Time Delivery: near zero to 100% within 6 months
  • OSHA recordables reduced by 51%.
  • Warranty costs were down 55%
  • Hours per unit were reduced by 27%
  • Finished Goods Inventory was reduced by 82%
  • Warranty costs were down 55%

Jerry is a graduate of the University of Maine, with a Bachelor's in Industrial Technology and has an MBA from the University of New Hampshire's Whittemore School.
