MaryPat Cooper
Marypat Cooper joined Moffitt Associates in January of 2004 following a successful 18 year career in the electrical equipment manufacturing and computer industries. Mary pat's experience includes intense involvement in lean transformations during her fourteen-year tenure with one of the leading US companies in the implementation of lean thinking.
Marypat was with the Brooks Electronics division of The Wiremold Company from 1989 through 2003. She was an instrumental part of leadership that transformed the company from traditional batch manufacturing into a recognized leader of Lean, enterprise-wide. Over her entire tenure, Marypat worked along with the company president as the primary change agent for the company. Her involvement included:
- Developed and implemented all kaizen training and Coordinated all kaizen events
- On policy deployment team, utilizing Hoshin Kanri techniques to direct the executive planning and implementation for Lean transformation of the company
- As Production Manager, brought in operations from an acquired Texas company; transformed custom production facility from batch to flow; Increased productivity by 30%; increased inventory turns by 150%
- As Quality Assurance Manager designed and implemented QA information system to support visual flow manufacturing; increased QA productivity by 80%
- As Human Resources Manager, designed and implemented new pay for skills system to support visual flow manufacturing; installed new payroll system; merged policies development with policy deployment and increased HR productivity by 50%
- Under Mary pat's direction as BrookÕs 3-P leader (Production Preparation Process), designed and installed production line that took cycle time of typical job from 32 production hours down to 8.
- Marypat also spent 2 years as an Information Systems Developer for custom production in flow environment where she initiated capacity planning, increased productivity by 30% and reduced lead time from 4 weeks to 4 days.
In addition to regular duties during her tenure at Brooks, Marypat has pursued other interests:
- 4 years working with the volunteers at PACE (Philadelphia Area Council for Excellence) to bring Dr. Deming to small manufacturers.
- 6 years working with the School Board of Philadelphia to further manufacturing principles in local curriculum
- 4 years working with 3 area high schools to create and institutionalize "School to Work"
- Founded lean roundtable in Philadelphia with the Delaware Valley Industrial Resource Center
- Workshops and affiliated with the Maryland Consortium of World Class Manufacturing, The Northwest Lean Network and The Wabash Valley Lean Network
Marypat operates her consulting practice from her office in Yardley, PA where she resides with her husband and daughters.
